I love the simplicity of this light blue depression-era sundae dish. The overall length of the windchime is a little over 14", making it easy to hang under a kitchen cabinet or in a window. You can add a tea light or a bit of water and fresh flowers.
The chimes are hand-cut stained glass, alternating pieces of light blue and glue chip, a clear glass with a delicate fern-like pattern. I drilled holes in the bottom of the sugar bowl and each of the chimes and then put it all together with stainless steel wire and glass beads. The stainless ensures both strength and durability - all of my pieces can go outside in any weather (although you should bring it indoors during high, sustained winds). We've all had windchimes made with monofilament (fishing line) and become frustrated after they dry rot and break from being exposed to the elements, leaving a pile of pieces on the lawn. This won't break.
Just as pretty indoors as out, this would make a perfect gift for a collector of vintage or depression glass.
