I love making windchimes from candlesticks. This one is just under 14" long and can be hung anywhere. I have a goblet windchime hanging in my guest bath from a hook in the ceiling and every time the heat or air kicks on it moves just enough to make a soothing, delicate sound.
The chimes are hand-cut stained glass, alternating pieces of seafoam green and glue chip, a clear glass with a delicate fern-like pattern. I drilled holes in the candlestick and each of the chimes and then put it all together with stainless steel wire and glass beads. The stainless ensures both strength and durability - all of my pieces can go outside in any weather (although you should bring it indoors during high, sustained winds). We've all had windchimes made with monofilament (fishing line) and become frustrated after they dry rot and break from being exposed to the elements, leaving a pile of pieces on the lawn. This won't break.
Just as pretty indoors as out, this would make a perfect gift for a collector of windchimes or vintage glass.
Thanks for looking.
